Happy New Year! Stay out of trouble, everyone. There is hope. Things can improve.
3 1/2 months to go until my petition filing. 🙏🏼
how can we get off of these long ass paroles my parole is longer then my sentence and this was a ple bargan not a word about 10 years of parole. i would like to know about that guys case
I was speaking with my attorney Friday in preparing for my petition. He brought up a valid point. The feds have separate statutes for internet vs sex crimes. In some cases these could overlap. When it’s a non contact offense ( CP, chat with no mtg intended, etc ) why shouldn’t these be classified as a legit internet offense. Interesting. 🤔
As bad as the presidential election turned out, I am glad it is over. I hope that now the state legislature will take up and pass CASOMB s recommendations and pass them. Then I could get out of any more depressing days like today not have to register anymore.
10 years… this May marks 10 years since I’ve been on the registry. Now according to the plan worked out with my lawyer back then after 10 years I would do the Certificate of Rehabilitation and once granted I’m off the registry.
I’ve done everything as I should have, finished probation early, and I got 17b and 1203.4 in 2019.
How should I get started for the COR?
After the tiered registry I was put on Tier 3… but that doesn’t mean anything right? Right? I can still do COR and get off… that was the plan. That’s the only reason I took the plea deal I did 10 years ago, that I would be able to get off eventually. It must still be true 🙁
What does COR even do in this era of lifetime Tier 3? Is it even worth getting?
@Also Me. That’s how I sometimes feel about my marriage after 35 yrs.
34 felony convictions and zero accountability. Many of us have a misdemeanor and can’t even step foot in a park. What justice system.
I am just sitting here looking through these new general comments stuck in my brain about the definition of retroactive punishment.
Can someone with a better sense of understanding please explain to me how they are getting away with claiming this is not retroactive punishment when the facts are, for so many, that it was legal activity not to register … at the time of the commission of their offense? Now it is a felony offense not to register … for that offense?
WTF? So seriously stuck here…
Then there is the whole human trafficking thing. The days of slavery are over in this country. Ha!
“The laws for thee are not for me” ever so clearly applies here. The law requires that we must be paid for the service (duties) that we are forced to provide.
Why are no lawyers helping us with that issue either?
Please, you smarter peeps, fill me in…
Hey all,
I was wondering if anyone has experienced this (for those seeking relief:
I filed relief on August 27th area through my Public Defender. The police finished their report on Oct 14th. The prosecution had until the middle of December. They still have not responded. Contacted the Public Defender who pretty much said they do not why they haven’t responded. I told them about the 60-day time frame and he read the statute. I believe that since they didn’t ask for a hearing and the 60 days have elapsed, that I should be put on calendar to at least to get the DA to either agree or ask for a hearing. I am putting a lot of pressure on the public defender as they have pretty much been doing very minimal, if any, to keep me updated. I was the one who had to find out the law enforcement agency completed their report after the paralegal stated that there was no update… That really annoyed me.
Anyone been in this situation? I am thinking of putting myself on calendar to be heard and maybe fire the Public Defender at that time. I am qualified to be a paralegal if I worked for an attorney as I have my certificate and even a bachelors in legal studies. At this point, I feel like I am accomplishing more on my own.
The 60 days is the law and the DA had an opportunity to object or ask for more time already. There are no other charges or pending so I am not worried about that.
You know whats amazing? all these people are saying that it’s wrong to be celebrating a murder when talking about a CEO being Murdered (there referring to Luigi Mangione
But I promise you that if it was a person forced to register that would be congratulating that person as they been doing it ever since the hit list became public! (watching TMZ Luigi Special)
Sigh…a fake take down ambush with no intent to meet an underage person… Someone is going to be seriously hurt or worse beyond what’s written here:
College students charged with ambushing US soldier in ‘To Catch a Predator’ TikTok scheme: police (Fox News via MSN 6 Jan 2025)
I know this is an old topic on here but it’s a new one for me. How do I get my name off homefax and other websites like that, because my old information and old addresses keeps popping up online.
I hope those in pacific palisades that are being helped to evacuate the devastating fire include homeless and registrants.
2025: 29th Year anniversary of my 288.2 CA code violation, and 3rd year anniversary of being placed in the Tier 3 online Registry.
How’s it gone? Depends. My 12 or so immediate neighbors, who have known me for a decade — have taken it pretty well. Once one neighbor found out, I decided to meet with everyone around me with my police and probation report in hand and explain the details. Since then, I still get a pleasant hello when walking to the mailbox, and some come over for a drink after work. They don’t keep their young kids in the house, as I thought they would. They seem less obsessed than I am. The owner in the front, with whom I share a garage and who has installed renters, doesn’t seem to know yet. I predict he will be sorely disappointed, having invested in a property so intimately attached to mine, but when he purchased, I wasn’t on the registry so due diligence wouldn’t have mattered. (Another issue that should be examined in court: neighbors are tangibly victimized by the registry as well, in many ways.)
The uncomfortable report: there are a few relatively distant neighbors, people I don’t know, who worry me a bit with their stares, or “eye-mugging”, as they call it. My condo complex is a mixed collection of owners, renters and Section 8 rentals. The Section 8 properties are high turnover, and many hang out in their garages day and night, just a couple of buildings down from my immediate area. One renter is visited by a motor cycle gang every once and awhile and they clearly know: Two cyclists idled in front of my place wondering aloud about how easy it would be to saw-off my window bars. I have two roommates now, and one is my brother, recovering from hernia surgery. They don’t deserve to overhear such clueless nonsense. (Still another issue to bring up in court? I worry about their safety, especially after the dating app vigilante debacle.) The irony is that many of these people don’t have children! I thought it was a misdemeanor to harass or even gossip unless a child was in imminent danger?
Which brings me to my final observation: None of my 12+ neighbors found out about me via the official, regulated and regularly updated gov’t registries. None of them could recall the date of my conviction or specific penal code violation. It was just the fact that I was listed. All that mattered. My neighbors found out through unregulated apps and other trashy, lurid sites, that work people up as opposed to talking people down before entering the “list” area.
I still come back to the recent Christian College vigilante news: If any other website — other than the registries — advertised a product or promoted information that led to the injury or death of someone, that website would be taken down today. One would think….
